Guardian Group Supporting Women’s Football

Bridgetown, Barbados, June 6, 2018:  Guardian Group’s support of youth and their development through living a healthy and active lifestyle has been further cemented with the sponsorship of the Kickstart-Genesis Senior Girls Football team.

Guardian Group through its Life, Health and Pensions arm - Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited, recently made a generous donation to the club in support of the purchase of uniforms and other gear to equip them for a successful upcoming season. The Genesis Women’s Football Club was formed in 2006 as a non-profit organization by a group of passionate footballers. The club then joined forces with the well-established Kickstart Barbados Football Club (FC) as it recognized that it shared similar values regarding the development of players, their social and football skills.

At the presentation, Mr. Amado Marcano, Branch Manager of Guardian Life reiterated that the Pan-Caribbean insurer was indeed proud to support year on year, organizations who are determined to see the positive development and success of Barbadian youth. He pointed out that as a Group, the company’s involvement with youth spans the sporting disciplines of cricket, netball and recently football. Over the past two (2) years, Guardian Group has been the title sponsor of the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) youth football tournament which has been described by the BFA as the “World Cup” for talented and skilled Barbadians.

Mr. David Porter, Director of Coaching, Kickstart FC and Ms. Kerry Trotman, coach of the Kickstart-Genesis expressed their gratitude to Guardian Group for coming on board with a team that has seen many firsts since its establishment. They confirmed that the senior team stands by their name and are full of pride at the fact that they won the inaugural BFA Women’s League in 2006 and were in the top three positions every year until 2014. The team also boasts of winning the inaugural Women’s Street Ball competition in 2014. Mr. Marcano lauded the club and indicated that Guardian Group was looking forward to being associated with the Club and their continual rise to success.
