Guardian Group Hosts Women’s Football Team

Bridgetown, Barbados, October 10, 2018: Guardian Group through its Life, Health and Pensions arm - Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited, recently hosted a meet and greet for the Kickstart Genesis Senior Girls Football team and their Parents and Guardians at the Guardian Group offices. The football team represents Guardian Group’s newest representatives of the brand as the company over the years has provided financial support to both football and cricketing fraternities on the island.

The team was officially presented with their football jerseys, which will give them a fresh look as they embark on their 2018 journey to secure first place in the Barbados Football Association’s organized Women’s League tournament.

The support of the Genesis team underscores one of the components under Guardian’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) umbrella concerning playing an active role, in co-operation with other community minded organizations and individuals, in furthering the wellbeing of our community. It is against this background that the crystallization of the partnership with Kickstart Genesis was a no-brainer.

At the evening’s function, Mr. Amado Marcano, Branch Manager, Guardian Life of the Caribbean highlighted that the Pan Caribbean insurer was proud to be associated with a team who has lived up its name – Genesis - meaning the first. The team excelled from their first entry into competition in 2006 as they emerged victorious in the Barbados Football Association’s Women’s League competition and are now poised to continue scoring goals

Mr. David Porter, Director of Coaching, Kickstart FC, said the Club and team felt heartened to have Guardian Group on board as a sponsor. He reiterated to the team, “always live life with a grateful heart and hold your heads up as Kickstart Genesis is now the top team in the league”. He expressed that he was very impressed that his dream to have a women’s team has come to fruition along with evident progression of the team. In addition, the dedication of the coaches cannot be discounted as they assist in ensuring the stability of the team.

Now known as Guardian Group Kickstart Genesis, the team was presented with their official uniforms as well as Guardian Group branded items. They enjoyed the interactions with Guardian representatives who also schooled them on the importance of preparing for a sound financial future. Both Parents and Guardians expressed delight and gratitude to the company for investing in their girls and for motivating them through the meet and greet session.

Guardian Group Kickstart Genesis now stands atop the league with Shaniece Stevenson boasting top scorer in the early stages of the tournament.
