Guardian Life of The Caribbean Limited has pledged their support to be one of the partners of the Christ Church Foundation School's "Pan Pon De Hill Steelpan Festival". As the steel orchestra grows in size and technical skill, efforts are underway for the students to own their own instruments in order to ensure the continued success of steelpan music in Barbados. Guardian Life is on board with these efforts as we are committed to assisting students in developing their fullest potential using their skills and knowledge.
The talented and award-winning school's steel orchestra are the headliners of the show which promises to be entertaining and full of high-energy. The orchestra boasts of wining several prestigious National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) awards in 2023 including the James Millington Award, the Founder's Trophy, Best Presentation and Best Performance by a Secondary School.
Mr. Lowrey Worrell, Director of the Christ Church Foundation School Steel Orchestra, Music Teacher and Event Producer expressed sincere gratitude to Guardian Life for readily coming on board with a donation to support the students and the efforts to hone their talent. “We are pleased with the positive attitude of our youth and the love they have for music and playing what we can deem as a unique instrument that promotes our Caribbean heritage. The group is very excited about the upcoming Festival as it allows us to show our prowess on the pan, entertain a wide cross section of Barbadians and share the stage with our counterparts”.
The family day event takes place on April 27th, 2024 on the school’s grounds and includes performances from other orchestras including the Alleyne School, the Darryl Jordan School, Combermere School, the Lodge School, the Republic Bank Steel Orchestra amongst others.
