Bridgetown, June 4, 2018:  Guardian Group, through its property and casualty arm Guardian General Insurance Limited is proud to be associated with the Pride of Villa Netball Team.

This year marks 21 years of robust sponsorship and commitment to provide corporate and financial support to the popular and hardworking local team. Such a partnership exemplifies Guardian Group’s corporate social responsibility to support organizations which promote active and healthy lifestyles and the development of youth through sports.

The team’s meteoric rise and intent to shoot for the stars has seen the emergence of three top players: Faye Agard, Sabrina Smith and Latonia Blackman who will be participating in the World Qualifiers which is scheduled to be hosted in Barbados from August 24th through September 2nd, 2018.  

Additionally, the team continues to boast of its top performer and Barbados’ most capped player Latonia Blackman, who recently received the prestigious President’s Award and was judged the 2017 Senior Female Athlete of the Year by Barbados Olympic Association. With the inception of the club over 27 years ago, the success of the team is attributed to the commitment and skills of the players as well as the keen management of Ms. Beverly Blackman and Ms. Movelle Batson who have been the pillars in the club.

Recently outfitted with new, brightly coloured uniforms, the team is currently at the top of the standings of the Division 1 Netball tournament with the goal of taking their place in the play-offs of the tournament. Guardian Group recognizes the value of nurturing young sporting talent and is also pleased with its continued involvement in primary school cricket, as well as youth football.
