Guardian Group Shows Appreciation to the Pride Of Villa Netball Club

Bridgetown, Barbados, August 18, 2016:  Guardian Group through its Property & Casualty arm, Guardian General Insurance Limited (GGIL) has sponsored the Pride of Villa Netball Club for the past 19 years. The Club which boasts of approximately 40 members will celebrate its 25th anniversary on September 9, 2016 and is one that unites the Brittons Hill community and its immediate environ.  In 2016, the Club recorded its best all round performance to date boasting outstanding results within their Junior, Intermediate - Division 6 and Senior division teams. 

Guardian Group saluted the club on their recent achievements with a small appreciation event at their offices.  Mr. Nigel Adams, Executive Manager, GGIL, emphasized that. “At Guardian Group, we take our corporate social responsibility seriously as we seek to support the communities we serve and organizations that promote an active and healthy lifestyle.”   Mr. Adams noted that the commitment by Guardian Group has spawned not only Pride of Villa but also the Herman Griffith Primary Schools' Cricket competition and Barbados Youth Teams which are both nurseries for the growth of young cricketing talent. More recently, Guardian Group has partnered with the Barbados Football Association as the title sponsor of their youth football tournament.

In his remarks, Mr. Adams further stated that Guardian was proud of its association with Pride of Villa, a club that has ensured that a strong community spirit has been maintained during its existence. He lauded the members and administrators and indicated that it was evident that through the management team, the Club has truly harnessed the talent of young ladies in the community who have become rising stars and gems in the sport of netball.

Both current and national players were recognized at the event, including Latonia Blackman, Faye Sealy, Nadia Blackman and Kamilla Burke. Team Manager, Beverly Blackman and Treasurer, Movell Batson, two pillars of the Club since its inception were presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation.

The Group also recognized this year's outstanding performances by presenting gift vouchers and tokens of appreciation to:

All teams were presented with trophies as the Juniors copped 1st place, Intermediate Division 6 2nd place and the Senior team placed 3rd place in the Barbados Netball Association 2016 league season.

Ms. Beverly Blackman, Team Manager extended sincerest thanks to Guardian Group for their unwavering sponsorship of the Club which has gone beyond the provision of uniforms and training gear.  This backing also involves the use of the facilities at “Enfield House" for practice sessions as well as the boosting of the Club's reading programme.

Mr. Adams wished Pride of Villa well and reiterated that Guardian Group stands committed to supporting the Club to ensure it continues to strive for excellence.
